An eight-story apartment building called the Canopies has been proposed in North Miami Beach.

The city’s Planning & Zoning Board will consider the project at 1640 N.E. 164th Street at its May 9 meeting. The 21,000-square-foot site currently has an 8,722-square-foot retail building built in 1972.

The Canopies would total 64,319 square feet, with 52 residential units, 2,745 square feet of commercial space and 77 parking spaces. Units would range from one bedroom with 574 square feet to three bedrooms with 1,147 square feet.

Seven Par 002 LLC, managed by Nohum Labkowski, Silvana Korik, and Marcos Korik in Fort Lauderdale, acquired the property for $1.15 million in December 2015. Architect Joseph Kaller couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
